Hello everyone,
It sounds like you all are very busy, that is good. Mom I am so proud of you, you are such a good scout Mom. Maybe you’ll want to work at Balboa. :>)
Well this week was good for me to. I got a new companion on Wednesday. I felt kind of sad when my old companion left because it was a fun fast change but I feel more focused now that he left. My comp is quiet and new and does not know the area.
I’m happier now and talking a lot more with everyone. I love talking to people in the street and planning activities with the wards. Things seem to be looking up. We’re finding a lot of families to teach but everyone here just lives with each other with 5 kids so they require more work.
I don’t know if I told you about Emily we found her awhile ago, she just got married. We started teaching them but the husband changed his work and was working 7 days a week so they were not progressing. We went by their home last night and her Husband quit his job and is thinking more about his family and God. I feel so happy in their home and seeing the miracles of the gospel at work.
Times up more next week.

Hey family,
Thanks for the Pictures. This week was good; we got to go to the Stadium in downtown Lima to pack semis with food, water and clothes for the earthquake victims. It was just our zone; we made lines and just started filling the trucks. We filled two trucks and a big semi with sugar, rice and milk too. It was so fun just to go out and give service and use my arms, it was tiring but I felt revitalized after. Afterwards we went to a little restaurant and had lunch.
That night when we got back we went to an appointment. I was teaching about baptism and had asked if she had any questions. She asked me how I felt after my baptism. The spirit really hit me and I shared with her what Dad told me after I was baptized, while we were changing. He said that right now I was perfect and cleansed from my sins. It is so true that you treasure the things of God up in your mind and he will give them to you in the very hour that you need them.
Saturday was really good too; I carried this solid wooden door up a mountain for a member family. We are teaching her son who is not baptized. We were on our way to teach him and his mom stopped us and asked for our help. I put the door on my back and started up the mountain and it was steep. The member we had with us was kind of holding the back. It was a cool experience.
Also, you can tell Kirk that Punks are not dead in Peru. I passed this guy a week ago that had a jacket on and on the back it said "Punks not Dead".
I love you so much

My week was good I’m back in Lima the city. It’s about ten minutes outside of my old area Libertadores. It is really cold, I am freezing most of the time but it should warm up in a month.
My new house is rad, our room is nice. The family reminds me of a young George Lopez family they have one son. He reminds me of a kid from a movie, he is really nice. They have giant pictures of him all over the house, if that tells you anything.
The food is so good they have a maid that cooks chicken, potatoes, white rice and homemade hot sauce. We had pizza the other night and chicken because some nights she doesn’t cook, so she just buys our food from a restaurant. I was so happy to eat cereal with milk the other morning. No, I did not get my package, hopefully tomorrow in zone meeting.
I am so happy to read about your new calling, you are going to be amazing. You are always so dedicated to your callings. I am thinking about when I used to watch you prepare so diligently for your activity days girls.
Until next week,
Love you all.

Hey I really enjoyed your letter it was perfect.
A barbecue buffet sounds so good you would laugh if you could see the stuff I’m eating here, but I eat it because I’m so hungry. Since it was father’s day the husband of our pension was home and he barbequed chicken and some kind of other meat it was good but not filling.
This past week was ok for p-day we went to some more runes that over looked the beach and then we went back and just relaxed in our zone leader’s house. The week was ok I spoke in sacrament meeting and taught the lesson in Sunday school for the young men young women it is not that big of a deal because their is only ten of them and I showed a video. I still get really frustrated when I can’t say or speak exactly the way I want to. But I know that the spirit helps me so much with the language when I’m sitting in front of investigators.
This past Friday was really nice I did a comp change with my zone leader in his area. He’s from Idaho and a good missionary it was so nice to work with a comp that I could trust and learn good things from. He speaks good Spanish and him and I share some of the same ideas about the work. His pension is the best in the whole mission she owns a pizza restaurant. For dinner we ate pizza and hamburgers.
We’ll be going to Lima this week for a zone conference and to say good bye to President Morris. I love you all so much I hope you have a great week.

My new area is really cool it is two hours outside of Lima so I am way north. It is really cold and foggy every morning. My area is Pativilca the closest town is Barranca. There is one main highway that links to Lima and the northern cities that goes up through the town.
The beach is not to close but it is kind of a beach town this morning on the way to breakfast I saw a car pass with a bunch of boards on the roof. We eat avocado every morning for breakfast with bread and butter with hot water coco powder and sugar. The other day I was so hungry I bought two dozen rolls and gave four to my comp and ate the rest. I got another needy comp but I like my area and he helps more with my Spanish.
The people are a little crazier out here then in Lima. We are in a branch there were 20 people at church on Sunday. I am learning with my comp that if you have something and they don’t it’s theirs also. The branch president wanted my camera to take pictures of some lady that got a wheel chair from the church and I said look this camera has all my mission pictures on it so I went with him to take the pictures and helped him put them on the computer.
Before I forget give this scripture to Stephanie Alma chapter 37 verses35 37 I found it the other morning and thought it was good just replace son with daughter.
It sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun I love to hear from you every week. I love you and I will talk to you in a week got to go.

Hey family,
That is rad that you guys went to a Padre game. I forgot all about how much fun their games are. It sounds like you guys had and exciting week and school is almost over so I bet you are all excited.
Well this week was good for me to. Well the beginning was hard but it got way better. On Monday for P-day we went to this big park and five other zones in our area came. All the North Americans played american football. It was fun, but one of the workers of the park juked us because we were gringos and made us pay 2 sols each just to rent the field for an hour.
The Lord blessed me so much this week. On Tuesday one of the elders in our zone got called to the offices. So his comp was alone, so he stayed with us for the week and I got to learn a new area because we worked in his area to. It really lightened things up between my companion and me. The week got a lot better, we taught a lot of good people in both areas.
Yesterday was a great blessing for me I spoke in sacrament meeting again and my comp said it was powerful and my pronunciation was really good and after church a lot of the members started giving us references. We are teaching a man who is really progressing and is going to be baptized this weekend we taught him and his girl friend last night the plan of salvation and the spirit really helped me to teach, and then in our last appointment I felt so happy and grateful because it is so nice at times to just be able to teach with the Spirit and let it guide and help me to remember things.
To top it all off I’m being transferred on Wednesday. To Barranca it is about two hours north of here.
Love and talk to you next week. Love you so much!

Thank you for telling me all about grandma and grandpa’s party and wish I could give them a big hug right now. I’m glad to hear that grandma and grandpa’s party went well but did you get my letter?
We had a multi-zone meeting this week and there is an Elder Hixson in my mission he doesn’t know Brad and Jeanette though he is from Sandy. He is new like me; well he is on his second change. He is cool and I asked him what he was doing to cope, he said pray. I miss my old area and my old comp. The food is worse here. The plumbing here is really weird they don’t have hot water but they have a circuit breaker switch next to the shower and two wires going into a plastic shower head. I guess the wires are hooked up to two little probes inside the shower head that heat the water as it comes out. The other morning I was showering and my elbow touched the shower head and it shocked me.
In your last letter dad asked for my address to send goodies. Please don’t send a lot but maybe send some power bars and normal food and maybe some food to help keep my strength, also some Pepto-Bismol pills and Tums. Please don’t send a lot!
How is Craig doing? I wrote him two letters before I left the CCM.
The other night I was in a teaching appointment with a family. I was going to start the lesson but my comp started by rattling off something about prophets and then was looking at me to teach. I was frustrated because that is not the way you should teach and my comp really bugs. But I just took a deep breath and started teaching, my frustration left me and I was able to teach by the spirit.
Tell everyone that I love them; oh it is really expensive to send letters here so I might send a pouch of letters later, and will you just mail them to the right people please. Oh please ask questions about anything that you want to know about. I love you all so much and will talk to you soon.

Hey thanks for your letter, how are mom and Stephanie? Make sure that you are not still sending letters to the CCM. Well I’m in a new area, my comp and I were out teaching and when we came back for lunch the pensinista said that there was an emergency transfer and I was being transferred. I’m not sure exactly why, but it had to do with safety and having white boys in that area.
Before I left that area our zone had interviews with President Morris. He told me to make sure that you guys were writing and that it’s important that we save these letters because they will act as a journal. My new area is all up hill, it is a little nicer than my last area. It’s more of a city and our apartment is not great but better than Ventanilla. My butt is killing me because it is like walking up and down Shadow Mountain 10 times a day. I’m so tired and frustrated at times. But President Morris told me that sometimes it feels like we are going backwards but really our success comes in huge steps. The mornings are really hard for me but the day gets better. My comp and I have two areas Vista Alugre and Libertadores.
On Saturday we had a baptism, well it was a baptism for my comp because Saturday was my first day and I didn’t know the people. Someone in the ward had filled the font, but the water was nasty so we drained it and cleaned it. We go to two wards on Sundays and the ward in Libertadores has a brand new chapel. It is amazing and it’s really nice. In my last area we had three baptisms planed for this month, but I left, oh well its ok.
I hope you got my letter for grandma and grandpa’s anniversary party in time. How was their party? Sometimes I feel like I don't know English or Spanish. I am so proud of Stephanie and everything that she is doing the first goal wow! We don’t live with the pensin. In this area we have to walk down the mountain to eat. Sorry I can’t send photos by email, but I can receive them from everyone. It’s ok to give this email to people, well people you choose like friends and family. I would love to see a lot of photos of you guys and what is going on. Write as many times as you want during the week. I have to go. I love you so much and talk to you soon.

Hello, how is everything going? Everything is good here. I got to go to the Lima Peru temple today with my district. The session was in English. The temple is only like ten minutes from the CCM. Not a lot has happened here; I wake up, eat and go to class. We teach everyday in Spanish with the Latino’s. I‘ve learned so much in the past week. One of the teachers that I have at night looks like Carlton from “Fresh Prince” except Peruvian. It is a nice place here. The CCM is small and it does have a nice soccer field that we play on everyday for P.E. The CCM is kind of back up against the mountains. There is a big wall that goes all the way around it, with a guard tower in the front.

I think that it is better when I write on Sunday. I was having a tough day on Thursday. Yesterday we got to go to my mission to do some proselyting. Well I think it was a part of my mission. It was about 2 hours away and we all traveled by bus. I was so excited because once we got out of the city, we traveled on the road right above the coast for about 30 minutes. The road was right on the cliffs that go straight down to the beach. Well not really cliffs more like sand dunes that go straight down. I saw a guy (American) walking on the side of the road with a surf board. It reminded me of Jeff and he looked like Jeff. When we got to the city it was crazy. People and dogs everywhere, herds of cars trying to go through alleys. A lot of the people drive a motor-taxi which is a motorcycle with a little carriage on the back. We started at the church which was on a back alley. I had a Latino comp and one of the ward members came with us because we were visiting less active members. The first house we went to the people we needed to teach did not live there anymore. We went and started contacting people. I would just bear my testimony and talk about Heavenly Father. My comp would help me when I got stuck. The best part of the day was teaching two less active members in their homes. This was in the afternoon and a member of the bishopric was with us. We taught them the first lesson and talked about keeping the commandments and they committed to come back to church. I could not understand most of what they were saying, but I could tell that they were truly genuine. I got your letter Thursday. I’m glad you got to talk to President Cryak. I’m glad that “Dear Elder” works well. I’m starting to adjust, but I don’t know about fluent in Spanish. I had the opportunity to speak today in sacrament meeting. I had prepared most of my talk, but I needed more. A few minutes before the meeting, the spirit prompted me to what I needed to say. The spirit helps me so much when I speak Spanish. I watched a talk from Elder Uchtdorf for district meeting. He gave the talk about 2 months ago at the MTC in Provo. He talked about accepting your challenges and the situations you are faced with and just knowing that the Lord will bless you and that it is part of his plan for you. Also about becoming a great missionary and converting yourself. I hope that everything is going well for you and that everyone is happy. Oh don’t worry about sending me my blessing, I found mine in one of my notebooks, I hid it.
I love you, talk to you soon,

It’s taking two or three weeks to get a letter out of Peru. Here are the most recent letters from Andrew;
03-01-07
I made it! Everything went smooth at the airport. As soon as I walked out of the airport in Lima to get into our van I felt so happy. I’m so excited to be in Peru. The Lord has blessed me and continues to bless me, with so much, so I will be okay. My four other roommates don’t speak any English so that will be good, except it will be hard to communicate at first. My district leader is Elder Leavitt, he lives in Nevada. I asked him if he knew any Pulsiphers’ or if he knew any Leavitt’s in San Diego. He said he didn’t know any Leavitt’s’ in San Diego, but he knew Pulsiphers’ in Logandale. The food here is a little different but it’s good. Today 03-01-07 we updated and met with President Crayk, he is great. He is from Sandy, Utah. We had lunch; it was a beef in a sauce like stroganoff with rice potatoes in like a cream form with soup and a cream and Jell-O dessert. On the flight down here the plane was nice and we ate chicken and potatoes. The ride to the CCM was so amazing. I can’t accurately describe it but everyone drives taxi vans and they drive inches from each other. They merge and turn when they want. They call the MTC a CCM here. It is very nice, they have synthetic turf field. I will look at it tonight. For dinner we had this chicken with rice and yams, it was so good. The chicken was like a sweet curry flavor. The President just told us to sleep all day so that was nice. After dinner I was in the courtyard watching one of the Elders do impressions, it was funny. No e-mail, sorry. I’m not sure how it is going to work with “Dear Elder,” but I’m sure you will figure it out.
03-04-07
My first day in the CCM, I taught one of the teachers the third lesson in Spanish, or tried to. I did not really know that I was saying, I just opened my mouth. No one really speaks English here, except the North American Elders. When I tried to teach the first lesson it did not go so well. My Spanish comes and goes. It’s going to be hard here but I need it. The Lord knows me and knows what I can handle so I just need to put all my trust in him. Don’t plan on hearing from me a lot in the CCM because one of the elders got a “Dear Elder” from his parents and they said they had not heard from him and he has been here for three weeks. Just know that I love it here and that I love you all so much!

My first day in the CCM, I taught one of the teachers the third lesson in Spanish, or tried to. I did not really know that I was saying, I just opened my mouth. Hello, how is everything going? Thanks for all the letters. Don’t worry about sending more packages because I leave for Peru on Wed. the 28th at 10:00 a.m. I’m so excited I get to travel alone, which is a blessing, so I will be able to take it all in.
The food is ok here it’s a little better then the Galley. They have good salad and yesterday we had Freshetta Pizza for lunch, which made me think of when we had it at home. Mom would like it on Wednesdays because they have ice cream with a giant pot of marshmallow cream to put on your ice cream.
It makes me so happy to hear your everyday activities.
I went to the Temple again today it was amazing. I was so happy to be there and enjoy the peace that comes from being in the Temple. When I go to the one here I think about when I use to go with you and dad and how much fun it was. I received a letter from Grandma and Grandpa Pulsipher yesterday. It made me happy to hear that they are doing well.
I use the hymn book Stephanie got me for Christmas everyday in class. I got to see my picture and article you wrote in the Seagull because President Wright (his branch president) brought it to me. He said he still gets it from when they lived in San Diego.
Last Friday, the 16th was our first night teaching in the TRC (Teaching Resource Center) The TRC is were you go and teach people from BYU (members) who act like investigators. We taught the first Lesson. The Spirit was so strong even though I was teaching members. Most of the time it’s hard here but the Spirit makes things better.
On Saturday we do service in the bakery. I got to spread cheesecake and frost cakes. Saturday I prepared French toast and thought about cooking with Bobby and Jamie.
I also went to the RC (Referral Center) on Saturday this is where you send Book of Mormons and videos to people. I was able to talk to a man who was telling me how he was going to start going to our church and how he needed it in his life. He told me that he was not sure about other churches but he felt ours was right. He was moving to California and was planning on going to the “Mormon Church” out there. It’s so amazing to see how the Lord prepares people to hear the gospel. I just told him my testimony and hope the members in Northern California take care of him. So things are good.
Can you believe I’m leaving the country next week!? I got my hair cut today so I would look presentable for the mission president when I get down there. They didn’t do as good a job as grandma though. I’ll try and send some pictures of the MTC before I leave.
I just got your package and the pictures look great. The cookies are perfect! Oh by the way I saw Landon Pawn, he just got here today.

We just received Andrew’s first letter, it’s dated Feb. 7th the day he entered the Provo MTC.
It reads;
The first day is over and I think this letter is going to bring me some peace. I already miss you guys a lot. I think I’m still ok or going to be ok. The Spirit is strong here and I’m still excited to serve. I know it’s going to be hard but I know the Lord is with me.
I’m the only one in my district going to Peru. Most of the others are going to Mexico and my comp. is going to Bolivia. He is only here for three weeks also. Some Elders have been here for over their scheduled nine weeks, their visas didn’t come through. My comp is from Price Utah.
We met our District President, Brother Wright. He’s nice; he lived in San Diego so that’s good.
It’s the 8th now; it’s been a good day. I forgot a lot of the things I was going to tell you last night because I had to go to sleep.
I’m still excited to be here but I’m more excited to get out and serve. I love and miss you very much.
Andrew
